Kent is about fame, one of the most obvious goals society celebrates. Kent has achieved this benchmark by being the lead character in a marginally successful cartoon strip. This has allowed him an amount of marginal fame, just enough to be silly, like so many others. Fame and success can be acquired in an infinite number of ways, but two sure ways are having money or being a celebrity. Our Kent has little money but just enough public visibility to claim fame. How important is fame? How important are the things that fame bring? Could you handle being famous? Would you even want to be famous? I suppose it depends on how you achieved your fame, but for our slightly pathetic, somewhat shallow Kent, appearing in just enough daily newspapers has given him just enough fame. But, fame is fame, and, well... rock on Kent, baby. |
